Sadly, it’s also possible that no one said anything at all and everyone in the decision tree just rubber stamped this foolish idea – being thought of as an anti-LGBT bigot might ruin a career; ruining a woman’s wife by letting her get raped is the safer option for the cowards behind a desk.
